• Course Description

    This course is intended to teach safe driving and boating skills. Students will participate in 30 hours of classroom instruction that will include boating safety, driving license requirements, driving laws, safe driving skills, and vehicle maintenance. Students have the ability to complete the driving test requirements for obtaining a driver's license. 

     

    Course Requirements

    Students are required to have the following items for class:

    • Alabama Driver's Permit (Enrollment forms from Mrs. Fox MUST BE REQUESTED 24 HOURS AHEAD) or receiving a permit during the course.
    • Course Fee $30 – REQUIRED TO DRIVE
    • Notebook or binder with paper to take notes

     

    Legal Requirements for Driver Education 

    Driver Education is an elective course primarily for tenth-grade students. High school students in the public schools of Alabama will receive one-half unit of credit upon the completion of an approved course in driver education. Students enrolled in the Driver and Traffic Safety Education course without a valid learner's license should meet minimum health standards to operate a motor vehicle as outlined on the application for an Alabama driver's license.

     

     

     

    Driving Test

    ONLY STUDENTS CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN DRIVER EDUCATION CAN BE TESTED BY THE INSTRUCTOR. ALEA (Alabama Law Enforcement Agency) allows certified instructors to test students to a very rigorous standard and the Alabama Department of Education monitors instructors, coursework, legal requirements, and skills testing to ensure proper implementation and execution of the ALSDE Course of Study for Driver Education. Students will be given the scoresheets and will be taught the necessary skills to pass the test.

     

     

     

    STUDENTS CAN FAIL THE SKILLS TEST AND PASS THE COURSE.
